23 Months

January 3, 2016 No Comments

This is Kallen’s last month as a 1 year old….he won’t be a baby anymore when her turns 2 next month. I cannot believe how fast he is growing, it seems like he was born yesterday! We are having so much fun watching him learn and grow and it is really nice that he is able to really communicate his wants and needs now. Here is a little bit about Kal at 23 months
kal
Height and Weight: 32ish inches (i’ll update after his 2 yr visit) and 25 lbs.
Wearing: 18 to 24 months, some 2t fits. Size 6 or 6.5 shoe
Eating: Kal is a pretty good eater, and pretty much eats what we do. He is definitely a toddler, though, and has days where he eats like a bird or eats everything in sight. For breakfast he usually has cereal, oatmeal, or eggs. For lunch he will have Chicken Nuggets, PB&J, Grilled Cheese, Soup, or leftovers. His favorite snacks are fruit (especially “nana’s” and grapes), goldfish, and gummies (fruit snacks). For dinner he eats whatever I make for the night. His favorite are Chicken, Fries, and Guacamole.
Favorites: He is currently obsessed with Star Wars. A few months ago, when the previews starting coming out, Chris introduced him to “BB8” and he’s been hooked ever since. Over Thanksgiving, he watched the original movies with Chris, Papa Mike, and Uncle Wes and just last week Chris took him to see the newest one and he sat through all 2.5 hours of the movie. He got a light saber for Christmas, and he plays with it all day. He especially loves to have light saber battles with mom or dad He also insists on listening to the soundtrack in the car. His favorite characters are BB8, Chewy, and Darth Vader. He still loves basketball and throwing the ball in the hoop. He loves to help with cleaning, especially sweeping and vacuuming. And he still loves to take a bubble bath

Words: He communicates very well, and has been speaking in small sentences for a while now. He has become a little parrot, so mom and dad really have to watch what they say. Some of my favorite phrases are…
“Goodness Gracious”
“Watch Me” or “Are you Watching”
“Where are you”
“What Doin?”
“That’s Gross”
“Love you too”
“Good Boy, Goggie” (doggie)

Potty Learning: We really haven’t started, Kal hasn’t showed much interest and we plan to wait until he is ready. But lately he has been telling us when he needs to/after he has pooped and he is very interested in seeing us go potty. So we plan on buying a potty seat this week and starting to offer the potty, if he wants to use it
We love our little Kal man! I will post a much more detailed update for his birthday next month

  • When I picked "Be Brave" as my word for this year, I didn't realize I was asking the universe for an actual challenge. (And based on what I've gathered from many friends, I wasn't alone) But, as the year comes to a close, I feel like I met my goal. And while there were some wonderful moments of this year, like starting a new job, growing my breastfeeding support group, and becoming an aunty twice more. But my anxiety was worse than it's ever been (admitting that isn't fun) and watching my mother in law battle brain cancer and Grandpa fight through a massive heart attack, has been hard. Needless to say, I'm ready for a new start with these little humans and their daddy. See ya later 2018 👋

2019, please be kind to us 🙏

  • My top 9 of 2018 was an honest look at Motherhood. This was the year I found my voice, took opportunities outside of my comfort zone, and truly met my goal of being brave. I'm so glad and grateful you are all following along. Excited to see what 2019 has in store. Happy New Year!

  • I have been pretty open about my struggles with anxiety and depression. It's not fun or easy, and I often wish it wasn't part of my story, but it is. And through sharing, I can only hope that even one of you feels less alone. If you need a little extra support, I share daily affirmations in my stories every morning, I hope you'll follow along.
Here's to today being a good day, even in it's imperfections ❤️ #musingsonmotherhood #thisismotherhood #this_is_postpartum #dailyaffirmations

  • Back to reality today and totally experiencing a holiday "hangover" We will be cleaning out and choosing toys and clothes to donate, since the kids got new stuff for Christmas. It's important to me that my kids be involved in this process, as it is their stuff and I want them to learn the value of service. Not taking our decorations down yet, I'm not ready to let the twinkle lights go ✨✨ #musingsonmotherhood #lighttheworld
  • Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. May your heart and home be full of love ❤️🎄
