The Swimsuit Every Girl Mom Needs

**I was given this swimsuit in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and Ideas are my own, and I will always share a genuine experience. Thanks for supporting the business that help support this blog**

We are huge water lovers at our house, and when you live in the hoooot and humid Midwest, we don’t really have a choice. The Pool, splash pad, sprinklers, water table….you’ll likely find us by one of these on summer days. Water play with young kids can be so fun, but also kind of a lot (if its easy for you, please send me all the tips). Not only do you have to worry about water safety, there’s also the toys and snacks, sunscreen and towels….especially when we go to the public pool, I feel like I’m packing the whole darn house! And little girl swimsuits, aren’t my favorite. We typically go for a rash guard and swim diaper combo, because of the ease. The one pieces we have are so stinking adorable, put changing in and out of them can really be a pain.

Have you tried getting a soaking wet suit off of a wiggly toddler who needs to go potty or have their diaper changed??  Not the easiest thing in the world. In fact, I break out in a sweat just thinking about it. Little boys are pretty simple, just a quick pull down/up and your good. But little girls have to completely undress. Brrrrr, and in a public pool bathroom (eeewww) there’s usually no where dry or safe to lay your little one down. Getting them on isn’t the easiet either, they are usually kind of tight, and hard to wiggle up over baby bellies.
The moms behind Fasten have totally changed swimming for girl mamas! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this?! But I am sure glad that someone did. Plus, you know I love supporting mother run business’s whenever I can.

FastenSwim Review

Fasten suits are not only durable and adorable, they are totally functional. The bottom part of the suit folds down, similar to a “onsie”. Total game changer. And, another amazing feature, is the magnet on the back, so the panel doesn’t drag on the floor, fall in the toilet, or get stuck between legs. As we venture into the world of potty learning with this girl, that it is huge perk. Getting a toddler to the toilet quick enough is already a challenge and this takes out the added step of trying to pry a soaking wet suit off.
There are so many different styles and patterns to pick from, all brightly colored. But I couldn’t pass up this cute one shoulder ruffle. The price point for these suits is affordable, and comparable to the price we paid in store for her other suits. But the convenience of the pull down flap is totally unbeatable, I would pay a premium for that any day. I The material is very thick, much thicker than our other suits, it is more similar to a rash guard and offers UPF 50 which makes my esthetician heart happy. I also noticed it dried way faster than other other suits, and even faster than my sons swim trunks.

The suits do tend to run a little small, so I definitely recommend sizing up 1-2 sizes. My daughter is 2, and wears 18-24 mo, and I got the 3T size for her, which fits her perfectly. Fasten also makes leotards if you have a little one in dance or gymnastics. I’m hoping to start my daughter in tumbling this year, and I plan on getting this pink tutu for her first class.

  • When I picked "Be Brave" as my word for this year, I didn't realize I was asking the universe for an actual challenge. (And based on what I've gathered from many friends, I wasn't alone) But, as the year comes to a close, I feel like I met my goal. And while there were some wonderful moments of this year, like starting a new job, growing my breastfeeding support group, and becoming an aunty twice more. But my anxiety was worse than it's ever been (admitting that isn't fun) and watching my mother in law battle brain cancer and Grandpa fight through a massive heart attack, has been hard. Needless to say, I'm ready for a new start with these little humans and their daddy. See ya later 2018 👋

2019, please be kind to us 🙏

  • My top 9 of 2018 was an honest look at Motherhood. This was the year I found my voice, took opportunities outside of my comfort zone, and truly met my goal of being brave. I'm so glad and grateful you are all following along. Excited to see what 2019 has in store. Happy New Year!

  • Back to reality today and totally experiencing a holiday "hangover" We will be cleaning out and choosing toys and clothes to donate, since the kids got new stuff for Christmas. It's important to me that my kids be involved in this process, as it is their stuff and I want them to learn the value of service. Not taking our decorations down yet, I'm not ready to let the twinkle lights go ✨✨ #musingsonmotherhood #lighttheworld
  • Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. May your heart and home be full of love ❤️🎄
