Where did the summer go? I cannot believe Back to School season is already here! Whether this is your first go-around (it is for me!) or you are a seasoned school mom, it is can be so bittersweet to see your kids off to school. We worry and want to know they are happy, and we hope they are making their stamp on the world. How can we set them up for success? There are so many things we can do! Reminders, Positive Reinforcement, and setting an example through our own actions. If you have been here before, you know how much I love affirmations. I’m not the only who repeats them! I say them with my kids each morning too.
Why Affirmations?
Everything you say to yourself is an affirmation. The good, the bad and the ugly. Positive affirmations open the door for positive thinking. There is a saying that goes “Your mind believes everything you tell it” and it is so true! Going back to school can be a time of anxiety, nervousness, and worry for many kids. Starting their day off with a reminder that they are capable of anything, can never hurt!
I know what your thinking. No way is my kid going to stand in front of a mirror and repeat things I want them to say. Okay, okay. I hear you! So don’t do them standing in front of the mirror. There is no right or wrong way, to do this. You can do them in the car line, while brushing teeth, make a song of it, put a note in their lunch box. You may even just tell them at first, but I bet they will eventually get excited and want to join in. I hope this list makes things a little easier for you!
